Further to your e-mail below, I would like to inform you that in order for a company to hire third country - highly skilled nationals, it needs to be registered as a company of foreign interest under the Business Facilitation Unit.

Please find below all the related information:

1. First of all its important to clarify that eligible companies are companies in which the majority of the shares are owned by third-country nationals. Alternatively, the registration is based on other criteria, such as the company’s activities as described in our website - Business Facilitation Unit/ Eligibility Criteria - https://www.businessincyprus.gov.cy/business-facilitation-unit.

2. For registering a company as a foreign interest company you will need to submit all documents included in Annex I (https://www.businessincyprus.gov.cy/business-facilitation-unit) at bfu@meci.gov.cy.

3. Please note that a new criterion has been introduced, the investment criterion where foreign interest companies must proceed with an initial investment in the Republic of at least €200,000. The investment must be proven by presenting the appropriate certificates (e.g. bank statement at the time of deposit of the amount or proof of investment (purchase of office space and/or office equipment).

In case, you wish to hire employees that are not highly skilled, you will need to obtain a licence by the Labour Department. You can find more information under the Labour’s Department website, under the category “employment of non-Eu nationals”: https://www.mlsi.gov.cy/mlsi/dl/dl.nsf/index_en/index_en?OpenDocument./

I remain at your disposal for any further information or clarification needed.
